  • My Calling:

Protecting And Serving: FBI Or Child Advocate

My parents always said I’ve been curious since the day I was born. Apparently I’d follow people around with my eyes, and whenever they’d talk to each other, I’d move my head side to side, trying to keep up with the conversation. Of course, I didn’t understand words but I must have been intrigued by people just talking. As I got older, I always liked talking over watching tv or playing games. I asked a lot of questions all the time too. I’ve always been really aware of people around me and their feelings and I feel this has made me emotionally intelligent.

Maybe at first I thought it would be cool to have a job where I wore a badge. But the more I watched CSI shows where the characters had to solve mysteries, something clicked inside. I heard about the FBI and googled it to learn more about what they do. There are so many areas but the victim services department is the area I’d like to work in. I ask a lot of questions, am always interested in learning more about people and basically want to help others in tough situations.

The FBI may be a long shot so I have a plan B. I’ve worked with kids for many summers and know I have a special gift with them. I like helping them learn and love watching them play and interact with each other. My heart breaks when I hear stories of children being neglected or abused. So, I’m also interested in working with kids as a social worker and helping make their lives better. I connected this to the article we read “ Heart Of A Teacher”. The reason why I connected with this is because it made me think how I never want to be an Eric. I want to understand people, and understand who I am. I want to believe in people as well as believe in myself.
